Training Word Search (pdf)

Age
3 to 7

Description
This word search helps parents or teachers introduce children to the game while teaching the meaning of directional words like "up," "down," "forward," and "backward."   It is really intended to be done with the caregiver as a teaching exercise.

Note to teachers
We're proud of coming up with this approach, which we have not seen before!   The direction of the words in the puzzle corresponds to the meaning of each word. For example, the word "down" will read from top to bottom (vertically) in the puzzle. Also, since the answers are in bold, they are easy to find for even the most beginning readers, and makes it possible for this to serve as a pattern-matching excercise as well.
Go Bananas Word Search (pdf)

Age
4-adult

Description
Featuring lyrics from the song
"I Love Bananas" this search is more difficult and is designed to be entertaining for all readers, including adults.

Note to Teachers
Answer to "Super Secret Bonus Phrase" requires internet access, or teacher should find in advance.
